While the winter weather that was predicted for Wednesday didn't really materialize, its threat certainly had an affect on the local high school sports schedule.

The varsity and junior varsity basketball games between South Florence and Sumter high schools scheduled for Wednesday were postponed due to the threat of winter weather. The varsity and junior varsity boys games were scheduled to be played in Sumter, while the girls games were set to be played in Florence.

The games have been rescheduled for today at the same sites with the JV games set to begin at 6 p.m.

Laurence Manning Academy's four non-region home games against Pinewood Prep of Summerville were postponed as well. A makeup date for the games has been set for Monday.

Crestwood's junior varsity home games against Hartsville set for Wednesday were postponed. A makeup date has yet to be set for those contests.

Also, the middle school games between Hillcrest and Mayewood scheduled for today have been postponed as well. The games, which were already rescheduled due to the snow two weeks ago, have a tentative makeup date of Saturday, Jan. 27.

No decisions had been made on today's regularly scheduled games as of press time.
