Born on June 16, 1928, in Gulfport, Florida, he was the only child of the late Wesley Alexander Foster and Jessie Clayton Foster Mansfield. Mr. Foster had 43 years of federal service (24 years with the U.S. Air Force and 19 years with the U.S. Postal Service). He was a life member of the DAV, VFW and Air Force Sergeants Association. He was also a member of the NRA, Elks and Good Shepherd Baptist Church of Manning.
He is survived by his son, Ernest M. Foster (Arlene); and four stepchildren, Jimmy Hanna (Jamie), Shirley Mitchell (George), Vickie Broughton (Ted) and Dola Brooks (Paul Torri).
He was preceded in death by four wives, Della Robles, Ollie Williams, Carrie Cox and Virginia May Grier; and son, Guy W. Foster.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 4, at Florence National Cemetery.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 10, in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home with the Rev. Esta Gilley officiating.
