Funeral services for Wilbert Lee Williams will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday at Palmer Memorial Chapel, 304 S. Main St., Sumter, with the Rev. Archie Temoney officiating.

The public may view from 2 to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home chapel.

Mr. Williams, 71, transitioned on Sunday, Oct. 28, 2018, at his residence in Sumter.

Born in Alcolu, he was a son of the late Wallace Williams Sr. and Mary Eliza Sheriff Williams Seymore. Wilbert, affectionately known as Will and "WLW," was reared in a Christian home and attended the public schools of Sumter County. He was married to the late Essie M. Taylor and to this union two children were born, Lawanda and Tammy, who both preceded him in death. Mr. Williams was employed by West Best Meats Inc., Rainair Production and finally L&W Car Wash.

In addition to his parents and children, he was also preceded in death by, two brothers, Henry Lee "Buster" Williams and Negrant Williams; and a foster brother, J.C. Jones.

Survivors include sisters, Eva Mae Hambrick, Mary Ellen (Harold) Britton, Ida Mae Britton, Gwendolyn Alice Hicks and Sally Seymore Gilbert, all of Sumter; brothers, Wallace (Gloria) Williams Jr. of Alcolu, Lewis (Barbara) Williams, Johnny L. Williams and Joe (Lillarwiese) Seymore, all of Sumter, and Thomas E. Seymore of Virginia; foster brothers, the Rev. Charles (Roberta) Davis of Greenville and Calvin Davis of Bishopville; foster sister, Mary Davis of Sumter; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, stepsons and friends.
