Wilson Hall volleyball winless in Porter-Gaud Invitational

CHARLESTON - Wilson Hall lost six matches and tied another in the Porter-Gaud Invitational held on Friday and Saturday at the P-G gymnasium.

The Lady Barons lost to Wando, James Island and Oceanside Collegiate all by the scores of 2-0 and fell to First Baptist 2-1 on Saturday

Abbie Beatson led Wilson Hall with 31 digs, while Madison Sliwonik had 22. Sydney Jarecki had 10 kills and Cameron Duffy had five blocks and seven kills.

On Friday, Wilson Hall lost to both Academic Magnet and Porter-Gaud 2-0 and tied Boiling Springs 1-1.

Sliwonik led Wilson Hall with six kills, while Beatson had 11 digs and Duffy had four aces and five kills.

Wilson Hall is 2-11-1 on the season.

On Wednesday in Kingstree, Wilson Hall beat Williamsburg Academy 3-1. Sliwonik had nine kills and two aces, while Jarecki had eight kills, nine assists and four aces. Duffy had five aces and Lucy Matthews had five kills.

Sumter splits

Sumter High School split its matches with Crestwood and Orangeburg-Wilkinson on Thursday at the SHS gymnasium.

The Lady Gamecocks defeated Crestwood 2-0 by the scores of 25-18, 25-17. O-W beat SHS 25-17, 25-10.

Sumter, which is 3-5, plays host to Wilson Hall and Lakewood on Tuesday beginning at 5:30 p.m.
