The YAS Spartans Pee Wee Pop Warner football team will be trying to advance to the Mid-South Region championship when they play host to a game on Saturday at Donald L. Crolley Memorial Stadium in Dalzell.

The Spartans, who are 8-0 on the season, will take on the Coastal Cowboys from Wilmington, North Carolina, at 1 p.m. The winner will advance to the Mid-South Region championship game to be played on Nov. 24 in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

The YAS Spartans Junior Pee Wee team has already earned a spot in the Mid-South Region Championship in its age group. The JPW team, which is 7-1, defeated the MARA Colts in Clover last Saturday to earn the spot.

The JPW team advanced to that game with a victory over the Fort Jackson Falcons on Oct. 27 in Lexington. The PW team defeated the River Bluff Gators to advance.

There will be two other games involving non-Sumter JPW teams. The first game will begin at 9 a.m. with the second set to start at 11.
