YOUNG D. LONG

Young Derieux "Y.D." Long, 87, husband of Bobbie Fuller Long, died on Monday, Nov. 5, 2018, at his home.

Born on Aug. 12, 1931, in Prosperity, he was a son of the late Curtis Derieux Long and Mary Rilla Shealy Long. Mr. Long was a member of Dalzell Baptist Church. He was a past member of Westside Baptist Church and Bondovlove Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He retired from the U.S. Air Force after 20 years of service. He was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars. He also retired from Jones Chevrolet. Mr. Long was a member of the Forty and Eight - Chapter 1254, and was past Chef de Gare, serving in 1991. He was also a member of America Legion Post 15 and the McDonalds Coffee Club.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years; one son, Ashley Dean Long of Irmo; one brother, William "Bill" W. Long (Betty) of Sumter; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at Dalzell Baptist Church with the Rev. Mark Barnette officiating.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday at Newberry Memorial Gardens with full military honors.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home.
