Bates Middle School and Hillcrest Middle School will play for the Sumter Middle School Conference girls basketball tournament championship on Saturday at the Sumter High School gymnasium.

Bates, Hillcrest to compete for middle school conference title

Bates Middle School and Hillcrest Middle School will play for the Sumter Middle School Conference girls basketball tournament championship on Saturday at the Sumter High School gymnasium.

The game is scheduled to begin at noon.

Top seed Bates defeated Manning 45-13 in one semifinal on Wednesday, while the No. 2 seed Lady Wildcats beat R.E. Davis 46-22.

Alyssa Johnson led Bates, 18-2 on the season, with 16 points. Dalaisha Brunson had 15.

Hillcrest will bring a 13-3 record into the game.

East Clarendon 80

Mullins 66

TURBEVILLE - Talaysia Cooper scored 44 points to lead East Clarendon High School to an 80-66 victory over Mullins on Wednesday at the EC gymnasium that wrapped up the Region VII-2A title

Cooper had 12 rebounds, five steals and four blocked shots for the lady Wolverines, who improved to 19-2 overall and 14-0 in region play.

Rhamey Floyd and Britni Anderson both had double-doubles for East Clarendon as well. Floyd had 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Anderson had 11 points and 12 boards.

Bethune-Bowman 33

SUMMERTON - Scott's Branch won the Region V-1A title with a 56-33 win over Bethune-Bowman on Tuesday at the SB gymnasium.

Tonia Lawson led the Lady Eagles, 17-3 overall and 7-0 in region play, with 14 points. Teja Madison had 11, Mary Wimberly 10 and Jazlynn Bowman nine.

Lee Central 48

Buford 25

BISHOPVILLE - A'yanah Lucas had 17 points, 14 rebounds and three steals to lead Lee Central to a 48-25 victory on Tuesday at the LCHS gymnasium.

Robionne Myers finished with 10 points, three assists and four steals for the Lady Stallions, who improved to 16-7 overall and 10-1 in Region IV-2A. Jada Rogers added eight points.

Lee Central will play host to Andrew Jackson High on Friday with the region title on the line.

Christian Academy 47

DILLON - Robert E. Lee Academy advanced to the semifinals of the SCISA Region IV-2A tournament with a 48-47 quarterfinal win over Christian Academy on Tuesday at the Dillon Christian gymnasium.

Caleigh Barrett led the 15-5 Lady Cavaliers with 20 points while grabbing eight rebounds. Carson Shannon had 10 points and nine rebounds, while Rebecca Dinkins had eight points, five rebounds, five steals, five assists and three blocked shots.

MJ Logan also grabbed 11 rebounds.

REL will face Dillon Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Friday in Dillon in the semifinal game.

MANNING - Laurence Manning Academy defeated Thomas Sumter Academy on Thursday at Bubba Davis Gymnasium.

Jordan Baker and Audrey Coker led LMA with six points apiece.

On Tuesday in Dalzell, Laurence Manning beat TSA 28-7. Carlyn Hill led LMA with nine points, while Savanna Fagen and Porter Davis both had six.
