The Sumter Police Department seeks the public’s help in locating a teenager who investigators want to charge in connection to the shooting death of a man on Bultman Drive in January.

A cash reward may be available for information leading to the arrest of Nehemia Rashaun Amos, 17, last known address of East College Street, said Tonyia McGirt, public information officer for the police department. A warrant was issued Tuesday for his arrest. He is being charged as an adult, McGirt said.

The incident stems from when Kayaun Mytrell Daniels, 21, of Pioneer Court, was found wounded inside a vehicle that crashed on Bultman Drive near Walton Drive. Police say it was struck by gunfire while he was driving on Jan. 10. Officers were responding to a shots fired call in the area at about 4 a.m. when Daniels was located. He later died at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital.

Another person, Jordan Deandre Dennis, 21, of Bama Lane, was taken into custody Saturday for reported involvement. McGirt said he is being held at the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center and faces murder, unlawful carrying of a pistol, possession of a weapon during a violent crime and other charges.

Amos, who was reported as a runaway in February, is known to frequent different neighborhoods and apartment complexes in the City of Sumter, McGirt said. He is described as 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighs about 140 pounds and has brown eyes and black hair that is in a twist hairstyle.
