1 injured, in critical condition after shooting on Loring Drive; Sumter police seek information from public

Sumter Police Department is investigating a shooting that left a man in critical condition on Sunday night.

According to Tonyia McGirt, public information officer for the police department, officers responded to a shooting call about 7 p.m. on Nov. 5 to find a 24-year-old man wounded and lying outside a home on Loring Drive. He was taken to Prisma Health Tuomey and later transported to Columbia where he remains in critical condition, McGirt said.

A description of the shooter(s) and what led to the incident were not given.

An investigation is ongoing.
