13 graduate from CCTC Leadership Academy

Central Carolina Technical College announced 13 employees graduated from the Central Carolina Technical College Leadership Academy on Friday, April 19. The ceremony featured an inspiring keynote address by Austin Floyd.

CCTC Leadership Academy, established in 2018, offers a comprehensive leadership program to develop new leaders among faculty and staff at the college, fostering an effective teaching and learning environment through leadership development. The academy lasts for seven months and consists of two levels participants must complete.

Floyd, who worked at CCTC from 2012 to 2018, shared his insights on what authentic leadership requires. He expressed five key truths about authentic leadership, encouraging faculty and staff to "Be Uncomfortable," "Do The Inner Work," "Bring Your Full Identity with You," "Serve Boldly" and "Leadership is A Calling." Drawing on his experience with the South Carolina Technical College System's Division of Academics, Student Affairs and Research, Floyd inspired the new graduates.

CCTC recognizes the value of strong leadership and the importance of developing new leaders in support of the college's overarching goal of amplifying student success.

Floyd is a candidate for state Senate Seat District 35, advocating for improvements in education, economic development and community uplift.
