MANNING — Two 15-year-old Clarendon County males and one 20-year-old Santee man were involved in a shooting in the parking lot of Taco Bell, 2004 Paxville Highway, about 9:40 p.m. Wednesday, according to Capt. Rick Elms, an investigator with the Manning Police Department.

The Santee man was airlifted from the scene to McLeod Regional Medical Center Florence with possible life-threatening injuries. The injured juvenile was transported to McLeod Health Clarendon and then transferred to McLeod Florence. Both injured males were allegedly armed with handguns.

Elms identified the 20-year-old Santee man as Timothy Muckenfuss.

"We have charged one of the 15-year-old males with one count of attempted murder and one count of possession of a weapon during a violent crime,” Elms said Thursday afternoon. “At the present time, we cannot speculate on the motive for the shooting since we have been unable to talk with the 20-year-old.”

Additional charges may be filed once investigators are able to discuss the shooting with Muckenfuss, Elms said.

Officers were sent to the scene Wednesday evening following a call to dispatch that gunshots had been heard outside Taco Bell in Manning, which is across the street from Manning High School.

Elms said officers found Muckenfuss in a wrecked car not far from the scene. He said that officers thought that the young man was attempting to drive himself to the hospital when the wreck occurred. The injured juvenile was found at the scene. The second 15-year-old was arrested Thursday morning, Elms added.

“We want to thank the witness who came forward to help us piece together what happened,” Elms added.
