MANNING - A 35-year-old Manning man died Saturday afternoon in a Columbia hospital from injuries he suffered in a single-vehicle wreck that occurred at 3:20 a.m. that morning, according to Clarendon County Coroner Bucky Mock.
"Freddie White died from head trauma at Prisma Health Richland," Mock said. "He was flown from the scene on the Paxville Highway to Columbia."
The accident occurred on S.C. 261 (Paxville Highway) near J.W. Rhames Road, about 2.5 miles east of Paxville, according to Trooper 1st Class Tyler Tidwell with the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
White, who was driving a 2004 Acura TL, was not wearing a seatbelt, Tidwell added.
White was traveling east on the Paxville Highway when the vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree before overturning and ejecting the lone occupant of the car, Tidwell said.
White was transported by helicopter to the Columbia hospital where he died, the trooper added.
Late Sunday evening, another 35-year-old Manning died at a local hospital from injuries he suffered earlier in the evening, according to Mock.
"Ronnie Smiling died from his injuries at McLeod Health Clarendon," Mock added.
