2 Sumter women charged with assault and battery after alleged fight at club, another fight in parking lot

Amoreé A’Keymea Smith, 22, of Grantham Street, and Umeko Margie Ann Baker, 25, of Kent Street, were both charged with assault and battery, second degree, according to a news release from Adrienne Sarvis, public information officer for Sumter County Sheriff's Office.

The release states a physical altercation between Smith and Baker began at a club in the 3800 block of Broad Street on March 17 and continued to another location.

Smith and Baker both said they were hit in the back of the head with a bottle at the club, resulting in minor injuries, by the other suspect. Both women allegedly left the club in separate vehicles and drove to a store in the 1000 block of Broad Street where they continued to hit each other in the parking lot.

Smith and Baker both fell to the ground during this altercation, both sustaining injuries to their backs and ankles.

Both women were treated at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital. Smith was arrested on March 22, pursuant to a warrant issued on March 20, and Baker was arrested on March 23, pursuant to a warrant issued on March 22.
