20-year-old Sumter man, wanted for murder charge in man's death on New Year's Day, is considered armed and dangerous
Investigators with Sumter County Sheriff’s Office have identified 20-year-old Deontae Rashawn Jackson of Sumter as a person of interest in connection to the death of Montrel Epps, 23, according to Deputy Adrienne Sarvis, public information officer for the sheriff’s office.
Epps was found about 4:30 a.m. Jan. 1, the first homicide in Sumter in 2020 according to law enforcement. He was found by a Sumter County Sheriff’s Office deputy during a property check after seeing Epps’ vehicle parked in the area, according to Sarvis.

Jackson is considered armed and dangerous. He will be charged with murder when he is apprehended, according to Sarvis.
