FROM STAFF REPORTS

The 282nd Army Band and Fort Jackson are continuing a tradition of spreading holiday cheer by providing two free concerts featuring the entire 282nd Army Band.

Both concerts are free (tickets are not required) and open to the public and will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. The first concert will be held Monday, Dec. 16, at Patriot Hall in Sumter and the second on Friday, Dec. 20, at Koger Center of the Arts in Columbia.

The band will perform holiday favorites plus rock and jazz songs by Leroy Anderson, Michael Buble and Mariah Carey.

"If you live near post, you know we provide our community with the sounds of freedom everyday - but these concerts will provide a different sound," Fort Jackson Commander Brig. Gen. Milford H. Beagle Jr. said. "These concerts will provide our gift of music to the community ... Army style."
