MANNING — Three Richland County men have been arrested and charged with murder in the April 5 shooting death of 23-year-old Dashell Powell, according to Clarendon County Sheriff Tim Baxley.
Thomas Alexander Finch, 24, and Michael Leon Daugherty, 19, were arrested April 20 in Richland County by investigators with the Clarendon County Sheriff’s Office with assistance from the Richland County Fugitive Task Force.
Mikell Jamon Lloyd, 23, had been arrested earlier in the month in Richland County by CCSO investigators with help from Richland’s Fugitive Task Force in connection with Powell’s death.
All three men have been charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime, Baxley said.
“This is an ongoing investigation, and anyone with any information regarding this case is asked to contact the Clarendon County Sheriff’s Office at (803) 435-4414 or CRIMESTOPPERS at 1-888-274-6372,” Baxley added. “You do not have to reveal your identity to leave information.”
Baxley said the motive for Powell’s death has not been determined at this time. “That is still under investigation,” he said.
About 5:34 p.m. April 5, Clarendon County deputies, along with Clarendon County EMS and the Clarendon County Fire Department’s first responders, were dispatched to a shooting incident at Powell’s home on Raccoon Road.
“Upon arriving on the scene, responding units found the victim, 23-year-old Dashell Davonne-Dilique Powell, deceased with apparent gunshot wounds,” Baxley said in the release.
The victim’s body was discovered at his home by a family member, Baxley added.
Powell’s body was sent to the Medical University of South Carolina for an autopsy.
“The results of that autopsy are still pending,” Clarendon County Coroner Bucky Mock said Monday afternoon.
