6 Lee Correctional inmates charged in separate cases of murder, assault

Six inmates have been charged in separate cases of murder, attempted murder and assault and battery at Lee Correctional Institution that occurred in 2024.

Wiatt Xavier Woods, 54, was charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime in connection to the killing of his cellmate, Tristan Gist, in May 2024. According to an affidavit from South Carolina Department of Corrections, Gist was stabbed 55 times in the face, chest, back, arms, abdomen, scalp, hip, butt and hands with a pair of scissors, resulting in his death.

In a separate case in November 2024, Romane Clare, 39, was charged with attempted murder after he attacked a correctional officer with a homemade shank. The officer was stabbed in the lower abdominal area, resulting in a punctured lung. Clare was initially sentenced to 27 years for voluntary manslaughter in 2019, according to SCDC.

Alongside Clare, two other inmates, Brody Lee Bridges, 35, and Fabian Leonard Habersham, 34, were also charged in connection to the attack with second-degree assault and battery by mob resulting in serious bodily injury, according to SCDC. Bridges used his SCDC-issued tablet as a weapon, resulting in facial injuries to the officer.

In August 2024, Tyrone King, 39, assaulted his cellmate, according to SCDC. His cellmate sustained stab wounds to the chest, resulting in a collapsed lung, and his face, resulting in a nasal bone fracture, among other injuries. King was charged with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, SCDC said.

Dontravious Krenshaw Wise, 28, was charged with throwing bodily fluids by prisoner on state corrections officer, according to SCDC. In February 2024, Wise threw feces on a female corrections officer while she was on duty, according to an affidavit.
