SUMMERTON – A 72-year-old New Jersey man was killed on Interstate 95 near mile marker 105 southbound on Friday morning, according to Clarendon County Coroner Bucky Mock.

“Kenneth Takacs died at the scene from multiple blunt force trauma around 10:40 a.m.,” Mock said. “Mr. Takacs was wearing a seatbelt.”

Takacs was driving a 2011 GMC sport utility vehicle when he veered off the interstate to the left, ran off the roadway and struck a tree, said Cpl. Sonny Collins with the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The wreck is under investigation by highway patrol, Collins added.
