A COVID-19 birthday parade in Sumter

Since gatherings, birthday parties included, cannot take place in-person during the coronavirus, a Sumter community decided to celebrate the birthdays of four boys all turning 5 in April in a situation-appropriate way. People drove by their homes honking, ringing bells and yelling happy birthday. The line of cars took 10-15 minutes to pass through. "It's nice to see our community come together in a time like this, and, as a parent, it really means a lot," said Chase Smoak, whose son was among those celebrated.
