College baseball this weekend

USC vs. Georgia

The No. 22 Gamecocks (14-3) are on a four-game winning streak, coming off a sweep of Valparaiso last weekend and a 10-9 win over The Citadel on Tuesday. South Carolina will open Southeastern Conference play with a 3-game series with rival No. 8 Georgia (15-2) at Founders Park. Friday's tilt will start at 7 p.m. with righthanded pitcher Wesley Sweatt (1-0, 1.69 ERA) pitching for the Gamecocks and righthanded pitcher Emerson Hancock (4-0, 0.38 ERA) on the mound for UGA. Saturday's 4 p.m. game will feature USC righthanded pitcher Reid Morgan (2-0, 1.84 ERA) vs. UGA lefthanded pitcher C.J. Smith (2-0, 0.00 ERA), and on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. righthanded pitcher Tony Locey (3-0, 2.45 ERA) will toe the rubber for the Bulldogs, while USC's pitcher is still to be determined.

Clemson vs. Notre Dame

No. 12 Clemson (13-3, 3-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) will be in action at Doug Kingsmore Stadium this weekend when it welcomes the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame (6-9, 2-1) for a 3-game series. The Tigers are on a five-game winning streak, having beaten Furman, North Carolina three times and Coastal Carolina. For Friday's 6 p.m. game, Irish lefthanded pitcher Tommy Sheehan (2-1, 3.86 ERA) will battle Clemson righthanded pitcher Davis Sharpe (2-0, 2.18 ERA). Saturday's 3 p.m. matchup will feature Notre Dame lefthanded pitcher Cameron Brown (0-1, 5.95 ERA) versus Clemson lefthanded pitcher Mat Clark (3-0, 2.40 ERA). On Sunday at 1 p.m., Notre Dame righthanded pitcher Cameron Junker (1-2, 4.82 ERA) will face Tigers lefthanded pitcher Keyshawn Askew (2-0, 3.44 ERA).

USC Sumter vs. Cuyahoga CC

The Fire Ants (11-12, 2-2 NJCAA Region X) are currently on a four-game losing streak, losing at Brunswick Community College twice on Tuesday and falling to Florence-Darlington Technical College twice on Sunday after defeating the Stingers twice on Saturday at Riley Park. Next up for USC Sumter is a 2-game series with Cuyahoga Community College this weekend at Riley Park. Saturday's game will begin at 3 p.m. and first pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Sunday.

Citadel vs. Indiana State

The Citadel is currently 7-9 on the season and lost its last contest to No. 22 South Carolina, 10-9, on Tuesday. However, it won its series with Charleston Southern 2-1 last weekend, winning both games at home and losing the lone road game of the series. The Bulldogs will now travel to Terre Haute, Indiana to take on the Indiana State Sycamores (13-1) this weekend in a 3-game series. Friday's 2 p.m. game will feature Bulldogs righthanded pitcher Jordan Merritt (2-2, 1.21 ERA) versus Sycamores lefthanded pitcher Triston Polley (3-0, 2.70 ERA). Saturday's game, which also begins at 2 p.m., will pit Citadel lefthanded pitcher Shane Connolly (2-1, 2.14 ERA) against Indiana State righthanded pitcher Collin Liberatore (3-0, 2.45 ERA). Bulldogs righthanded pitcher Dylan Spence (2-1, 2.14 ERA) will pitch in the series' 1 p.m. finale on Sunday against Sycamores righthanded pitcher Tyler Whitbread (2-0, 2.55 ERA).
