AGNES BROWN

Agnes Brown, 83, was born on July 18, 1937, in Lee County. She passed away on Saturday, May 22, 2021, in Birmingham, Alabama.

Agnes accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age. Agnes was educated in the South Carolina public school system and graduated from Lincoln High School. She later moved to Brooklyn, New York, where she spent 25 years working as a social worker with the New York City Administration for Children's Services. Agnes later returned home to Sumter, where she worked as a healthcare provider, until her retirement. Agnes was a faithful member of Trinity Baptist Missionary Church under the leadership of Pastor Larry Weston.

Agnes was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charlie Brown; brothers, Thomas Fleming and James Mark; granddaughter, Sotonya Clayton; and great-grandson, Ryan Clayton.

She leaves to cherish many fond and loving memories: her daughters, Yvette Clayton (Jerry), Valarie Barclift (Albert) and Dawn Terry; three brothers, Bennie Dixon, Alex Dixon (Gloria) and Robert Dixon; two sisters, Ethel Toney (James) and Cynthia Johnson (Wayne); sister-in-law, Greta Mark (James Mark), Sister Rosa Ford (Woodrow) and godsister, Elsie Clark; grandchildren, Norman Barclift, Yolanda Clayton and Chyna Terry; great-grandchildren, Avaya Clayton, Gavin Barclift and Grant Barclift; along with a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Her wish is to be remembered as a caring person, who treated others the way she wanted to be treated.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 18, 2021, at Myrtle Beach. All friends and family are welcome to attend.
