Albert Gillard, 81, transitioned peacefully on Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2019, at his home.

He was born on Jan. 28, 1937, in Summerton, to the late Fred and Janie Jones Gillard. After graduating from Bates High School, Summerton, on May 13, 1955, he enlisted in the United States Army. Upon completion of his tour of duty, he went on to work with Josh & Neal Construction Co., where he later retired. He attended the Old Trinity Church, now Western Community Church.

His memory will be cherished by one sister, Barbara Ann Davis of Fayetteville, North Carolina; five daughters, Loretta Felder-Keniley (Johnnie) of Washington, D.C., Nicole Taylor (Gregory) of Sumter, Lisha McAllister of Byron, Georgia, Aronda Reed-O'Neal (Charles) of Mansfield, Texas, and Juanita Ross (Felix) of Greenville, North Carolina; five sons, Oliver Felder Jr. of Bowling Green, Virginia, Aaron Reed of Mansfield, Robert Player (Latanya), James Bryant (Chanita) and Steven Bryant (Rochelle), all of Sumter; his companion, Carolyn B. Bryant; and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the home, 109 King St., Sumter.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday at the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel, Williams Funeral Home Inc., 821 N. Main St., Sumter, with Pastor Ricky Simmons, youth pastor of Jehovah Missionary Baptist Church, officiating, eulogist.

The procession will leave at 1 p.m. from the home.
