ALEXANDER RAY JACOBS

Alexander Ray Jacobs, 67, husband of Louise Wright Jacobs, was born on Nov. 10, 1954, in Dalzell, a son of the late Taylor and Emma Jacobs Gamble. He departed this life on Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2022, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital in Sumter.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife, Louise W. Jacobs of Sumter; son, Nicholas (Kiara) Jacobs of Sumter; stepson, Angus Turner of North Carolina; granddaughter, Mariah Bennett of Sumter; sister, Annie Mae (James) Green of Sumter; brother, Taylor Michael (Rosalyn) Gamble of Lawton, Oklahoma; uncle, Deacon Hayward (Mary) Jacobs; aunt, Rosanna Nelson; sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Hill, Annie Mae (Ralph) Brown, Catherine (Freeman) Garrick, Evelyn (Jimmy) Dow and Diane Wright, all of Sumter; brothers-in-law, Robert Wright of Sumter, Granderson (Maggie) Wright of Long Beach, California, Frankie Wright and Herman (Deloris) Wright, both of Sumter; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, maternal and parental grandparents, and a brother, James "Sammy" Jacobs.

Public viewing will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Monday.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday at Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church, 3285 Peach Orchard Road, Sumter, SC 29154 with the Rev. Richard Addison officiating. Interment will follow in Hopewell Missionary Baptist Churchyard Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. daily at the home, 670 Bernice Court, Sumter, SC 29154.
