DALZELL — Alice Benenhaley Chase, 82, wife of Benjamin W. Chase, passed away on Friday, July 16, 2021, at her home.

Born on April 11, 1939, in Sumter County, she was a daughter of the late Henry Jr. and Ethel Hood Benenhaley. She was a member of Springbank Baptist Church. She retired from Sumter School District 2.

Survivors include her husband of 61 years; two children, Renee Pridgen (Tim) of Greenwood and Chip Chase (Brenda) of Sumter; a daughter-in-law, Teresa Chase of Pinewood; nine grandchildren, Jessica Gainey (Scott), Lyndsey Chase (Scott), Larry Donald Chase Jr. (Blake), Chase Pridgen (Ashley), Drew Pridgen (Hannah), Mary Peyton Zilch (Cody), Abigail Zilch, Noah Chase (Marilize) and Adam Chase; five great-grandchildren, Abigail, Dylan, Kyle, Brooke and Kelsey; two sisters, Annie Lee Shoemaker and Lois Cook, both of Dalzell; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her oldest son, Larry Donald Chase Sr.; and 11 siblings.

A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday at Springbank Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve Miller officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Dean Benenhaley, Pat Buckner, Tony Carpenter, Glenn Peagler, Ronnie Benenhaley and Henry Benenhaley.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m. on Sunday at Springbank Church and other times at the home.
