Funeral services for Amelia Alston were held at noon on Monday at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, 182 S. Pike Road East, Sumter. The Rev. Dr. Aureila Hill, pastor, and the Rev. Billie Bennett officiated.

A public viewing was held from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday at the mortuary.

She was born on Nov. 7, 1941, in Boykin, to the late Rhames and Louise Hunter Taylor.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Alston; a son, Bernard Alston; three brothers, Joseph, Rhames Jr. and Anthony Len Taylor; and a daughter-in-law, Doretha Alston.

She departed this life on Saturday, Feb. 6, 2021, in Camden.

She leaves to cherish her memories: a daughter, Jozlyn Alston; two sons, Donnie (Sallie) Alston and Eugene N. Alston; a daughter-in-law, Stephanie Alston; a sister, Elisa Taylor Bynum; a brother, George (Yvonne) Taylor; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
