Letter to the editor: Americans delivered huge gift to Trump with election

Posted

Let me first say congratulations to all winners of our local elections, both Republican and Democrat.

I am sure the sting of defeat is felt by many after our election. Given the choices and policy differences I believe it's conclusion was for the good of our country.

As I had predicted, it would be Hillary 2.0. Unfortunately, Democrats remain out of touch with the general population, choosing to cater to the fringes. America remains a Christian nation with conservative values. Democrats have a worn-out playbook that no longer serves their party. They continually put up polarizing candidates, rely on star power, massive campaign contributions, racial and gender identity, woke issues and a constant biased and liberal media to push their agendas. None of which people care about, people are still capable of making their own decisions, and not being told how to vote. People don't care about all the firsts, and it does not help when you call voters "deplorables" and "trash."

The working class is the driving engine of our country, and they are tired of their hard-earned money being given away to, not those who can't work, but those who refuse to and contribute nothing, while their families struggle paycheck to paycheck. Social programs were put in place to assist the truly needy, disabled, sick, elderly, etc. - not a lifestyle for the lazy.

If you do not have a stable economy then none of the other issues matter, as demonstrated by voters.

The biggest surprise of the night was the fact that Trump won the popular vote.

The American people have delivered a huge gift to Donald J. Trump; he has nothing more to prove. I hope and pray he will concentrate on business and stop the nonsense, name calling and drama of the past. This is not an opportunity to settle scores or get mired down in the past, and voters need to hold his feet to the fire and remind that the Lord said vengeance is his. There is much work to be done, and it's time to roll up our sleeves and get going.

God Bless America and We The People.
