On Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2022, the world lost a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, niece, aunt and friend, Anne Myra "Nanny" Workman. When Anne received her wings, she was surrounded by those that loved her.

She was born on Sept. 22, 1947, in Queens, New York, to Dorothy Clegg and Jimmy Dorsey. She later moved to Newark, New Jersey. She was a member of Morning Star Baptist Church. In her final years, she relocated to Rembert. While in South Carolina, she became a member of Rafting Creek Baptist Church, where she served on the senior missionary committee. For many years, Anne cared for those in need as a home health aide. She had a kind and loving spirit that would light up any room. Her giving nature and pure heart was unmatched and felt. Nanny loved cooking and preparing meals for her family and friends, especially over the holidays. She enjoyed spending quality time with those she loved as well as shopping and watching her favorite soap operas.

The memory of Anne "Nanny" Workman will live on in the hearts of everyone she knew.

She is survived by her sons, Darryl Smith and Lemmie Holder; daughter, Yolanda Dorsey; brother, Walter Dorsey; aunts, Mattie Bagley and Ollie Riddick; along with multiple grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In accordance with the COVID-19 guidelines, the family is requesting no visitations at the home.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday in the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel, Williams Funeral Home Inc., 821 N. Main St., Sumter, with the Rev. Melvin Mack, pastor of Rafting Creek Baptist Church, officiating.

Burial will be at a later date in Evergreen Cemetery, Hillside, New Jersey.
