Area Boy Scouts collecting food for needy

Posted

Sumter Boy Scouts of America is Scouting for food this week for those in need in the community.

Some neighborhoods have already received or will receive "Scouting for Food" flyers in Piggly Wiggly and Food Lion bags on their doors.

Area residents are asked to place donations of non-perishable food items in bags and leave them on your front porch or other visible area by 8 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23, for Scouts to pick up. All food will be collected and taken to Sumter United Ministries on Monday, Nov. 25.

Suggested items include: canned meats, canned soups/chili, rice, beans, canned vegetables, powdered milk, hot and cold cereals, peanut butter, canned fruits, pasta products, canned juice, baby formula and baby food. Please no glass containers.

Even if you did not receive a flyer, please consider supporting United Ministries and Boy Scouts of America in their food drive to help those in need for Thanksgiving.
