ARTHUR JAMES PIERCE JR.
Arthur James Pierce Jr. was born Nov. 24, 1941, in Sumter, a son of the late Arthur J. Sr. and Charity Ross Pierce. He entered rest on Monday, Aug. 5, 2019, at Dr. Ronald McNair Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Lake City.
Arthur leaves to cherish his memory: a loving wife of 51 years, Edith M. Pierce of the home; a devoted daughter, Doris (Gino) Mouzon of Sumter; grandchildren, Artretta Mouzon and Keaton Mouzon of Sumter; two sisters, Arthuretta (Elder Bennie) P. Murphy of Charleston and Carol Loraine (Richard) Martin of Lugoff; a brother, Gordon Craig (Patricia) Pierce of Columbia; and a host of loving relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Arthur was preceded in death by his grandmother, Lessie Pierce-Johnson; a sister, Carolyn Pierce; and a special cousin, Evelyn Pierce-Bowens.
Public viewing will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. today at Job's Mortuary.
Mr. Pierce will be placed in the church at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday for viewing until the hour of service.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday at Salem Chapel & Heritage Center, 101 S. Salem Ave., Sumter, SC 29150 with Elder Bennie V. Murphy officiating. Interment will follow at Walker Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the home, 368 McDuffie St., Sumter, SC 29150.
