Wilson Hall girls win Carolina Invitational

CHARLESTON - The Wilson Hall varsity girls basketball team defeated Porter-Gaud 58-51 win on Saturdy to win the Patriot Division of the Carolina Invitational at the P-G gymnasium.

The Lady Barons, who improved 8-1 on the season, had five players score in double figures. Haley Roone McCaffrey led WH with 13 points. Natalie Jackson had 11 points, while Liza Segars, Maddie Elmore and Sydney Jarecki each had 10. Cameron Duffy grabbed nine rebounds.

Segars was named the most valuable player. Jackson and Elmore were named to the all-tournment team.

On Friday, Wilson Hall beat Augusta Christian School 65-27 in the semifinals.

Elmore led the Lady Barons with 14 points. Jackson added 10, while Jarecki and Duffy both had nine.

MIDDLE SCHOOL BASKETBALL

Bates 39

Hillcrest 35

The Bates Middle School girls basketball team defeated Hillcrest 39-35 on Saturday to win the Chestnut Oaks Christmas Tournament at the COMS gymnasium.

Dalashia Brunson led the Lady Bantams, who improved to 9-1 on the season, with 17 points. Alyssa Johnson and Shamira Andrews each added six.

Bates won its other three games in the tournament as well. On Friday, Bates beat Manning Junior High 31-11. Brunson had 14 points and Johnson had eight.

On Thursday, Bates beat R.E. Davis 35-25. Brunson had 12 points and Andrews had 10. Bates defeated Howard 40-19, as Brunson had 10, and Johnson and Koryn Brown each had six.

Crestwood 60

North Charleston 49

BISHOPVILLE -- Crestwood High School defeated North Charleston 60-49 on Saturday to win the 22nd Annual District 9 Officials Christmas Tournament at the Lee Central High School gymnasium.

The Knights improved to 4-8 on the season.

Clarendon Hall 76

North 53

NORTH - Clarendon Hall's varsity boys basketball team remained undefeated on the season with a 76-53 victory over North High School on Saturday in the semifinals of the Eagles Above The Rim Holiday Invitational at the NHS gymnasium.

Trae Davis led the Saints, who are now 10-0, with 24 points. Zyan Gilmore added 20, Kylic Horton had 18 and Kade Elliott had eight.

Clarendon Hall will face either Scott's Branch High or North in the championship game on Sunday beginning at 4:30 p.m.

On Friday in the first round, Clarendon Hall defeated Oceanside Collegiate 64-51. Tyrese Mitchum led in scoring with 20 points, while Horton had a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds. Davis had 14 points and Gilmore had 12.

Battery Creek 49

NORTH - Scott's Branch defeated Battery Creek 51-49 in the first round of the Eagles Above The Rim Holiday Invitational at the North High gymnasium on Friday.

Sean Swearinger and Joakeem Stevens both had double-doubles for Scott's Branch. Stevens had 13 points and 10 rebounds, while Swearinger had 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Maranatha Christian 29

DARLINGTON - Laurence Manning Academy improved to 6-1 with a 31-29 victory over Maranatha Christian on Friday in the championship game of the Trinity-Byrnes tournament on Friday at the T-B gymnasium.

Davis Campbell led LMA with nine points. Denzell Sigler had eight, and Jaden Sanders had six.
