A department store in Sumter is gearing up for its annual charity sale that will offer shoppers discounts and the opportunity to support local charities.

The Belk Charity Sale will be on Saturday, Nov. 3, from 6 to 10 a.m. at the store in Sumter Mall, 1057 Broad St. Proceeds will support Combat Veterans, the YWCA of the Upper Lowlands and Sumter High School JROTC.

The first 100 customers in each store - all locations across Belk's 16-state footprint are participating - will receive a Belk gift card ranging from $5 to $1,500, according to a news release.

Exclusive discounts on top designer brands will be featured during the sale, which is a private ticketed event. Shoppers can purchase a $5 ticket, which will be deducted from their total purchase when they return to the store on Nov. 3. Tickets can be purchased from the partnering charities, and 100 percent of those proceeds will stay with the organization. Tickets can also be purchased directly from Belk, and those proceeds will be divided among the store's partner charities.

Since 2012, the sale has contributed more than $50 million in donations to more than 6,000 nonprofits across the South.
