Benjamin J. Chua, 61, husband of Mona Hatton Chua, died Thursday, Aug. 1, 2019, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital.
Born May 11, 1958, in Manila, Philippines, he was a son of the late Lou T. and Nieves Juntilla Chua. He retired from the U.S. Air Force after 24 years of service and was a veteran of Operation Desert Storm. He was an avid gun collector and a motorcycle enthusiast. He also was employed by Eaton Corp. He loved spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years; two children, Tara Ramirez-Ramos (Douglas) of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Scott Chua (Amy) of Sumter; four grandchildren, Spencer Chua, Audrey Chua, Kaia Ramirez-Ramos and Kaden Ramirez-Ramos; five sisters, Carolina, Zenaida, Lea, Teresa and Gloria; and a brother, Antonio.
A memorial service with full military honors will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Greg Pressley and the Rev. Brandon Barkley officiating.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m. Tuesday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home.
