Betty Moore Young, 89, widow of Loyd Andrew Young, died on Wednesday, June 19, 2019, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital.

Born on Sept. 24, 1929, in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Carrie Riles Moore. She was formerly employed at Pioneer Dress Co. and operated a shop at the Sumter Flea Market for more than 40 years. She was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are her children, Thomas Childers (Annette), John Childers (Helen), Brenda Ard, Loyd "Andy" Young Jr., Ralph Young (Cindy) and Debbie Sisson (Bobby), all of Sumter; 17 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Debbie Ashby.

In addition to her husband of 64 years, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley Hair (Tommy Gene); a son, Jimmy Childers; a son-in-law, George Walker; grandchildren, Tommy Hair Jr., Marie Hair and Patrick Ard; two sisters, Lillian Webster and Barbara Ann Brady; and brothers-in-law, Richard Webster and Hunter T. Brady.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Johnson officiating.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home.
