BETTY SIMON RUFUS

Betty Simon Rufus, 58, departed this world about 6 a.m. on Saturday, March 30, 2019.

Born on June 12, 1960, in Sumter, she was one of six children of the late Earnest and Pauline Jenkins Simon. Betty always had a deep love and affection for her cats; that love has showed so much that the SPCA has even, in her memory and honor, named one of her very own kittens after her. She was a woman full of life and, to her family, always a blessing to be around.

She leaves to mourn: three sons, Wylie Rufus (Michelle), Billy Rufus (Connie) and Leroy Rufus (Seeta-Mari); two brothers, Earnest Jenkins (Mary) and James Earl Simon; a sister, Barbara Simon (Spencer); a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, close relatives and friends.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the home, 5920 Wedgefield Road, Wedgefield.

Funeral services will be held at noon on Friday at John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel, Williams Funeral Home Inc., 821 N. Main St., Sumter, with the Rev. Frank Williams Jr. officiating, eulogist.

The procession will leave at 11:20 a.m. from the home.

Burial will be at Walker Cemetery, Oakland Avenue, Sumter.
