The Knights got off to a strong start, driving 42 yards in 10 plays for a score on their second possession. Jaice Calderon caught two Clayton Feagin passes for 23 yards to help set up his 6-yard touchdown run. The score came after a 16-yard LR punt and set Crestwood up on the plus side of the all-important field position battle.
The Diamond Hornets took the ball at their 20 after the ensuing kickoff and quickly broke off their first big play of the night. Quarterback Jamison Ganzy Jr. found some open space around left end and was off to races before being pushed out of bounds at the Crestwood 3 after a 77-yard gain. Jeremy Braney ran it in from there on the next play but the 2-point conversion run attempt failed, leaving the Knights up 7-6 with 3:51 to go in the opening quarter.
Just as quickly as LR had answered Crestwood's first score, Montrell White replied to the Hornets' touchdown with a 73-yard kickoff return, taking just 13 seconds to increase the Knights' lead to 14-6.
LR was pinned at its own 14 to start its next possession and could not gain a first down, with a 31-yard punt giving Crestwood the ball on the Diamond 40. The Knights failed to get a first down and once again pinned LR with a punt, this time to the 4. Yet again, Crestwood fell victim to the big play, this time a 94-yard pass from Ganzy to Fred Archie, with the two also hooking up for a 2-point pass to tie the game at 14-14 with nine seconds on the first quarter clock.
LR caught a break early in the second as a Crestwood player was flagged for illegal touching on a Diamond punt. LR took over at the Knights' 32, with Ganzy finding Archie for a 30-yard scoring pass five plays later as the Diamonds took the lead for good.
Crestwood had one more scoring drive just before halftime, going 39 yards in eight plays to set up a 42-yard Gavyn Zimmerman field goal with 49 seconds left in the half. Unfortunately for the Knights, that left enough time for the Diamonds to answer, and they would. Ganzy needed just two plays and 24 seconds to go 70 yards, completing passes of 37 and 33 yards to Nate Branch, with the second going for six. Ganzy then found Jurnii Lucas open for the 2-point pass and a 28-17 LR lead.
Crestwood fumbled the ball away twice in the second half, with the second contributing to LR's final score of the night. Ganzy and Archie combined for two more scores on pass plays of 13 and 53 yards, with Lucas adding a 2-point reception after the 13-yarder, to close out the scoring.
The Knights fall to 2-4 and 0-2 in region play while the Diamonds improve to 3-4 and 2-0.
