Billie Hazel Cox, 96, widow of John D. Cox, died Monday, Oct. 23, 2017, at Palmetto Health Tuomey.
Born May 30, 1921, in Knoxville, Tennessee, she was a daughter of the late Balard B. Olinger and the late Vicie E. Monday Olinger. She was a longtime member of Dalzell Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. She loved her family and friends very much. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed her animals.
Survivors include four children, Jim Pickel (Brenda) of California, Rhonda C. Hall (Reggie) of Sumter, Nancy Samperi of Sumter and Janice Crosby of Georgetown; 11 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Esther and Bertha; and two brothers, James and George.
A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Greg Pressley officiating.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home of her granddaughter, 215 Muscovy Trail.
