Bonnie Smith Moore, age 100, widow of Samuel F. Moore Jr., died Saturday, July 9, 2011, at National Health Care in Sumter.

She was born Feb. 23, 1911, in Paxville, a daughter of the late Richard Sidney and Leila Geddings Smith. She was educated in the Sumter County schools, attending the old Dalzell School, and was a member of the first graduating class of Hillcrest High School (now known as Thomas Sumter Academy) in 1929. Ms. Moore was a member of High Hills of Santee Baptist Church.

She is survived by a son, Samuel R. Moore and his wife, Lillian; a son-in-law, Lonnie Jarvis; a sister, Edna S. Hagell; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Moore's daughter, Mary Beth M. Jarvis, died Sunday, July 10, 2011.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Frances Ann Moore Vancil; a great-grandson, Justin V. Tipton; two sisters, Virginia S. Jackson and Mary S. Witherspoon; and two brothers, R.S. Smith and L. Jack Smith.

The family would like to extend a special "Thank You" to Dr. Hugh T. Stoddard Jr. and the staff of National Health Care for their kind and professional care.

A graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Sumter Cemetery with the Rev. Ron Underwood officiating.
