Bruce Harrison Peavy, 53, husband of Erin Baker Peavy, passed away on Thursday, April 8, 2021, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital.

Born on Sept. 1, 1967, in Sumter, he was a son of Joyce Carolyn Atkinson and the late Marion E. Peavy Sr. He was co-owner of Carolina Bait Distributors and was a U.S. Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Erin; three children, Zachary Peavy (Whitney) of Sumter, Sarah Peavy Wonchoba (James) of Enfield, Connecticut, and Alyson Mehm of the home; two grandchildren, Harrison and Sullivan; a brother, Mark Peavy of Columbia; two sisters, Beverlee Johnson (Ben) of Barnwell and Wendi Floyd (Chris) of New Zion; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, William and Vicki Baker; two sisters-in-law, Amy Baker and Rosemary Peavy; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Melody Hope Peavy; a grandson, Maddux Peavy; a brother, Marion E. "Gene" Peavy Jr.; and his stepfather, Edmund Atkinson.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Danny Burleson officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery. Casual attire is requested.

Pallbearers will be Ira Peavy, Milton Geddings, Jackie McIntosh, Kameron Earles, Zachary Peavy and James Wonchoba.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home.
