Camp Happy Days is calling for volunteers (ages 19+) to help create a life-changing experience for children battling cancer and their siblings. The 2025 week-long overnight camp will take place June 28 to July 5 at Camp Bob Cooper, bringing together 200 campers for a week of fun, friendship and therapeutic activities.
Each year, 150-180 volunteers are needed to make camp possible. Volunteers can serve as cabin counselors, working directly with campers, or assist with program areas in activities like arts and crafts, water sports, woodworking and more. Applications are open until May 30, and all volunteers must pass a background check and complete child protection training.
"After my cancer diagnosis in 2008, Camp Happy Days became a place where I could escape my illness and just be a kid. The friendships and team-building experiences were life-changing, inspiring me to return as a counselor in 2018. Now, I focus on creating a space where every child feels understood and empowered. Camp Happy Days isn't just a camp - it's a community that gave me hope, and I'm committed to paying that forward," said Cliff Beilke, former camper and current volunteer, in a news release release.
