Campus Corner for Nov. 6, 2020: Students in Sumter, Clarendon and Lee counties

TROY UNIVERSITY

TROY, Alabama - Troy University recognized students who completed the requirements for graduation during Term 1 of the 2020-21 academic year. Term 1 graduates include students at Troy's campuses in Dothan, Phenix City and Montgomery, Alabama, along with teaching sites outside of Alabama and online.

Local students include Christopher Parillo of Sumter and Talona Smith of Dalzell.

THE CITADEL

CHARLESTON - The members of the Class of 2021 who join the thousands of alumni proudly wearing The Citadel ring include:

- Sumter - Michelle Banzon; Kiel Bilton; Steven Little; William Rowe; and Greyson Young;

- Manning - Christopher Jordan; and

- Bishopville - Kody McCutchen.

The seniors of the Class of 2021 were celebrated with a traditional Ring Presentation Ceremony on Sept. 25 in McAlister Field House, attended by the South Carolina Corps of Cadets, veteran and active-duty students.

Attendance at the ceremony was restricted to only ring-eligible seniors due to the need for social distancing to reduce the spread of COVID-19, but the event included the same rich traditions that recipients anticipated for this important milestone.

"Our seniors deserve every bit of pageantry for earning their much anticipated rings as every other member of the Long Grey Line who came before them," said the Commandant of Cadets, CAPT Geno Paluso. "While we wish we could provide everything we would normally on a Parents Weekend, we are pleased to be able to provide this in-person ring ceremony for the Class of 2021."
