UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA

TUSCALOOSA, Alabama - Rebekah St.Cyr of Sumter was named to the University of Alabama Dean's List for spring 2020.

A total of 16,470 students enrolled during the 2020 spring term at UA were named to the Dean's List with an academic record of 3.5 or above or the President's List with an academic record of 4.0 (all A's).

The UA Dean's and President's lists recognize full-time undergraduate students. The lists do not apply to graduate students or to undergraduate students who take less than a full course load.

WILLIAMSBURG TECHNICAL COLLEGE

Williamsburg Technical College recently announced the list of students named to the President's List, Dean's List and Merit List for 2020 spring semester. The President's List recognizes students who have attended full-time and have earned a term grade-point average of 4.0. The Dean's List names students who have attended full-time and have earned a semester grade point average of 3.5 or better. The Merit List recognizes students who have attended part-time and have earned a term grade-point average of 3.5 or better.

The following local students were named to the President's List:

- Salters - Ervin D. Carolina;

- Sumter - Joel Jackson; and

- Turbeville - Timothy R. Gamble.

The following local students were named to the Dean's List:

- Salters - Russell Feagin; Emalaa M. Hamlet; and Kyreus J. Smith.

The following local students were named to the Merit List:

JACK PARKER SCHOLARSHIP

Synovus recently announced its 2020 Jack Parker Scholarship recipients. This year, 132 scholarships totaling $110,500 were awarded to children of Synovus team members across the company's five-state footprint. Scholarship funds are generated each year through team member donations and internal fundraising activities.

Among the recipients, Stanley Boatright and Kristen Wixey of Sumter were awarded scholarships for 2020. Boatright is enrolled at North Greenville University, and Wixey attends the University of South Carolina.

The scholarship program is named in honor of Jack B. Parker, whose career with the Synovus family of companies spanned 44 years. Jack's enthusiastic attitude, keen sense of duty and good heart were evident throughout his career. The scholarship program is managed by the Jack B. Parker Foundation Inc. to award college or vocational institution scholarships to team members' children who excel academically, demonstrate strong leadership and are involved in activities to improve their communities. Since its inception in 1988, the foundation has awarded more than $2 million in scholarships.
