Central Carolina Technical College

Pharmacy Technician Graduates

Twelve students were recognized for completing the requirements for Pharmacy Technican Certificate:

- Sumter - Victoria Ross; Larissa Taylor; Joshua Walter; Loretta Wells-Mathis; Briana Bell; Verlisha Epps; Antoniya Bradley; and

- Bishopville - Da'vida Mathis and Hannah Smith.

The Pharmacy Technician Certificate curriculum is a formal academic training program that prepares individuals to become pharmacy technicians. These allied health professionals assist and support licensed pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications and other health care products to patients. Under the direction of a pharmacist, the pharmacy technician performs pharmacy-related functions, in compliance with specific policies and procedures that provide optimal pharmaceutical care for their patients.

Massage Therapy Graduates

Twelve CCTC students were recognized for completing the requirements for a Massage Therapy Certificate:

- Manning - Kali Carter; and

- Sumter - Megan Brimmer; Ingrid Galloway; Markie Healon; Natasha Howard; Ebony Singleton; Hope Tindale; Colton Tweedell; and Tricia Walro.

The Massage Therapy Program prepares graduates to work in direct client care settings to provide manipulation (massage) of the soft tissue structures of the body to prevent and alleviate pain, discomfort, muscle spasm and stress and to promote health and wellness.

CCTC's massage therapy program is one of a handful of programs across the nation that have embraced remodeling massage therapy education to meet health care-level standards and expose students to a variety of advanced health care clinical experiences prior to graduation. The program is one of only three massage therapy programs nationwide implementing automated simulation mannequins, and it is one of six massage therapy programs nationwide known to implement hospital-based massage therapy - with more medical clinical sites and inpatient floors than any other massage school in the nation.

Surgical Technician Graduates

Ten CCTC students were recognized for completing the requirements for a Surgical Technology Diploma:

- Dalzell - Christina Lockwood; and

- Sumter - Brittany Ardis; Elizabeth Bowman; Terrence DuPree; Raven Glover; Raven Hensley; Shelia McDaniel; Jessica Spurlock; and Stephanie Whitt.

The Surgical Technology Diploma in Applied Science program is designed to prepare individuals for employment as surgical technologists. Surgical technologists are integral members of the surgical team who work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, registered nurses and other surgical personnel in delivering patient care and assuming appropriate responsibilities before, during and after surgery. The primary responsibility of the surgical technologist is to maintain the sterile field while ensuring that all other members of the surgical team adhere to aseptic technique.

Allied Health Graduates

Fifteen students were recognized for completing the requirements for the Inpatient Medical Coding Certificate:

- Alcolu - Brooke Morris;

- Sumter - Rachel Geddings; Shelly Matlock; Carissa Churchill; Moneisha Junious; Hannah Magee; and

- Rembert - Laney Capell

The Inpatient Medical Coding Certificate program is designed to prepare Health Information Professionals by focusing on procedural and diagnostic coding for reimbursement of professional services performed in inpatient facility settings. The program includes medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, inpatient procedural coding, diagnostic coding as well as medical regulations.

Medical Record Coding Graduates

Nine students were recognized for completing the requirements for a Medical Record Coding Certificate:

- Manning - Michelle Christy;

- Dalzell - Jennifer Gilpin; and

- Sumter - Brandi Ellis; Stephanie George; Hannah Hatfield; Vivian Jefferson; and Lindsay Lefler.

Medical Assisting Graduates

Sixteen Central Carolina students were recognized for completing the requirements for a Medical Assisting Diploma in Applied Science at CCTC:

- Alcolu - Bonife Brown;

- Summerton - DeAsia Brown;

- Dalzell - LoNiece Holloway;

- Manning - Brianna Burns;

- Lynchburg - Ashley Treadwell;

- Rembert - Quinneisha Woodberry; and

- Sumter - Joetta Brown; Candace Dial; Mary Gladden; Krysten Hassler; Bethany Hernandez; Kamryn McGee; Tajanee McGee; and Devin Reade.

The Citadel

CHARLESTON - The President's List is one of the most distinguished cadet awards presented by The Citadel. The list is a combination of the dean's list and the Commandant's Distinguished List and is composed of cadets who contribute the most to their companies while maintaining excellent military and academic records.

The nearly 60 cadets recognized for their outstanding work during the spring 2020 semester include Michelle Banzon and Kiel Bilton, both of Sumter.

The Dean's List is a recognition given to cadets and students who are registered for 12 or more semester hours and whose grade-point average is 3.20 or higher, with no grade of I (Incomplete) and no grade below C for work in a semester.

Recognizing the academic successes of Citadel cadets and students is a special tradition each semester, even one as atypical as this. But these cadets and students earned their grades in unique circumstances and were able to focus on their studies while transitioning to virtual learning in March 2020.

Cadets and students named to the dean's list include:

- Manning - Christopher Jordan;

- Sumter - Michelle Banzon; Ronald Flowers; Kiel Bilton; Walker Barber; William Noonan; Davis Fuller; Guy Wilson; Jameson Totty; and

- Bishopville - Kody McCutchen.

The dean's list is a recognition given to cadets and students who are registered for 12 or more semester hours and whose grade-point average is 3.20 or higher, with no grade of I (Incomplete) and no grade below C for work in a semester.

Gold stars are awarded to cadets and students at The Citadel who achieved a 3.7 grade-point average or higher. Cadets and students who achieve gold star recognition are also placed on The Citadel's dean's list. The traditional parade honoring the cadets was cancelled, but recognizing the academic successes of Citadel cadets and students is a special tradition each semester, even one as atypical as this. These cadets and students earned their grades in unique circumstances and were able to focus on their studies while transitioning to virtual learning in March 2020.

The nearly 500 cadets and students recognized for their academic achievements during the spring 2020 semester include:

- Manning - Christopher Jordan; and

- Sumter - Ronald Flowers.

Coastal Carolina University

CONWAY - Coastal Carolina University saw nearly 400 students graduate in summer 2020 during a virtual ceremony that included remarks from Carolyn Dillian, a professor of anthropology and recipient of CCU's 2020 HTC Distinguished Teacher-Scholar Lecturer Award.

Among the students who graduated are:

- Manning - Amaris Smiling, a Sociology major; and

- Sumter - Sarah McInnis, a Theatre major; Tehsia House, a Biology major; and Michael Ward, an Accounting major.
