Carrie Lillian Smith Hood Burnett, 97, died on Monday, Feb. 15, 2021, at her home.
Born in Risco, Missouri, she was a daughter of the late James A. and Eva Snowden Smith. Mrs. Burnett was twice married, first to the late James W. Hood of Missouri and then to the late Rudolph Burnett of Tennessee. Mrs. Burnett was a member of Wise Drive Baptist Church and a former member of the VFW. She retired from McDonald Douglas Aircraft.
Surviving are one daughter, Patsy E. Jones (Ronald) of Sumter; seven grandchildren, Cynthia Jones (Kirk), Carrie Jodoin, Cheryl Jones, Charlotte Bohr (Matt), James Hood (Crystal), David Hood (Sarah) and Michael Hood; 17 great-grandchildren, Hunter, Jordan, Taylor, Logan, Steven, Michael, Joseph, Tyler, Kirsten, Daniel, Jonathan, Jacob, Hannah, Rachel, Lydia, Adrian and Logan; and six great-great-grandchildren, Grayson, Jamison, Theo, Carson, Layton and Matthew.
She was preceded in death by a son, James Leroy Hood.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at Wise Drive Baptist Church with the Rev. Matthew Bohr officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service.
Burial will be in St. Charles, Missouri.
