CARRIE LEE STUKES RICHARDSON

Posted

Carrie Lee Stukes Richardson was born on July 2, 1916, in Wilmington, North Carolina, a daughter of the late Elliot and Susan Stukes. On Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2020, after living 103 glorious years upon this Earth, in a whisper God called "Mrs. Carrie" to rest in his loving arms.

In her early childhood, she was educated in the public schools of Clarendon County. At an early age, she gave her life to Christ and joined Historic Liberty Hill AME Church. She later met the love of her life, the late Samuel Richardson. Within that union, a beautiful daughter, the late Daisy Lee Morrow was born. In addition to her biological daughter, she raised the late Susan W. Gunn as her own.

"Seven," as she was so affectionately known by, had the hands of an army - gardening, farming, fishing and sewing were her thing. You name it, she did it. She cooked for two, but fed many. She was known for her delicious chow-chow. There was not a task too big or too small she could not handle.

Carrie was loved by many and will be missed by all. She leaves to cherish the memories of her glorious life to three special grandchildren, Sameerah Robinson, Sierrah Singleton and C.J. Torres of the home; two special nieces, Mozell Ragin and Margorie Carter, both of Summerton; a special nephew, Joe "Moda" Lawson of Summerton; a special great-niece, Hilda Robinson of Summerton; a special great-grandson, James Gunn III; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends and family.

Funeral arrangements are scheduled for 1 p.m. today at Historic Taw Caw Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. William T. Johnson, pastor.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Summerton Funeral Home LLC, 23 S. Duke St., Summerton.
