CCTC names director of development and alumni



Misty Hatfield has been named director of development and alumni at Central Carolina Technical College, according to a news release from the college. Hatfield, who has more than 20 years of experience in marketing, public relations and advancement in the fields of health care, higher education and the military, began her career as a public relations specialist with Palmetto Health Tuomey, now Prisma Health. She previously held director-level positions at CCTC, the Department of Defense and the University of South Carolina Sumter. "I'm very proud to welcome Misty into the Central Carolina family. She brings a unique set of skills and experience that will greatly enhance the communities we serve by positively impacting our ability to grow our partnerships and financial support," CCTC President Michael Mikota said in the release.

Hatfield is a member of the Sumter YMCA Board of Directors and has been involved with numerous boards and foundations including the City of Sumter ATAX Board, the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations and the Council for Advancement and Support of Education. She is also a graduate of Leadership Sumter.

Hatfield also has experience in development and fundraising including employee campaigns, special event fundraising, golf tournaments and annual campaigns. She was charged with enhancing the 2012 Shaw Air Expo with sponsorships and VIP chalets and has raised more than $50,000 for the American Heart Association.

Hatfield was honored with the H.D. Stoddard Employee of the Year Award in 2017 at USC Sumter; a Higher Education Marketing Gold Award in 2017; and was a Palmetto College Innovative Grant Recipient in 2016.

Hatfield received her Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the University of South Carolina and a Master's in Public Administration from Troy State University, graduating cum laude and summa cum laude, respectively.

She and her husband, Lee, have two daughters.
