Cecil Weldon Launius, 82, husband of 34 years to Margaret Barkley Launius, died on Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2017, at his home.
Born in Holly Springs, Arkansas, he was a son of the late Nollie Lafayette Launius and Mary Elizabeth Walker Launius. Mr. Launius was a kind and gentle man, who loved and served the Lord. He was a member of Green Acres Assembly of God Church. He proudly served and retired from the U.S. Air Force and National Guard.
Surviving are his wife of Sumter; two daughters, Vickie Hoskenson (Don) and Valerie Reese (Michael), both of California; four stepchildren, Troy (Trina), Joseph and Mike Hasten and Theresa Winkler, all of Texas; two brothers, Jessie Launius of Arizona and Carrol Launius of Mexico; and his best fur friend, Charlie.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Algie, Noland, N.L. and Farrell Launius; and a sister, Evalina Mizell.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Monday in the chapel of Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael Bowman and the Rev. Tony Porter officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at Florence National Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to noon Monday at Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home.
