Funeral services for Charlie Hunter will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday at High Hills AME Church, 6780 Meetinghouse Road, Dalzell, with the Rev. Keith Mayes, pastor, and the Rev. Willie Dennis Sr. officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.

The public may view from 1 to 5 p.m. today at Palmer Memorial Chapel.

Mr. Hunter will be placed in the church for further viewing at 9 a.m. on Friday until the hour of service.

Charlie, also known as "Charlie Ragg," transitioned on Friday, June 28, 2019, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital.

He was born in Sumter County to the late Adam Hunter and Marie Singleton Hunter and was the husband of Elizabeth B. Hunter. Mr. Hunter retired from the construction and building industry. He was a lifelong supporter of Willow Grove AME Church in Horatio.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Elizabeth B. Hunter; daughter, Mary (Ronnie) Rivers; sons, Charles Adam (Tamara) Hunter and Tony Hunter; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Hunter-Hinton, Louise Hunter-Hanley and Percalee Hunter (Robert) Morris; and a host of other relatives.
