Christopher Alonzo Taylor, "CL" as he was affectionately known, was born on April 1, 1952, in Sumter, to the late Rufus and Ida Mae Seymore Davis. CL entered eternal rest on Monday, Dec. 3, 2018, in Varnville.

CL received his education at Eastern High School in Sumter. He was employed at Korn Industries for many years, until his health failed.

He leaves to cherish his fond memories: three daughters, Teresa Sessions of Charlotte, North Carolina, Christa Taylor Wright of Columbia and Courtney (Tony) Jabobs of Sumter; six grandsons, TJ Wright, Tequan McCoy, Ra'Sean Laurant, Cody McCoy, Derrick Johnson and Tony Jacobs Jr.; two great-grandchildren, Khari and Kaloni Laurant; brothers, Harry (Illease) Davis of Philadelphia, Charles Taylor, Rufus Davis Jr. of Buena, California, Vernard (Sweethazel) Davis and Thomas (Jane) Davis; sisters, Jannet (Ellison) McBride, Rebecca (Larrie) Jenkins of Brandon, Florida, Delphine (Jerel) Moses and Gail (Jeffrey) Tharp of Columbia; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his son, Xavier McCoy; his parents; a sister and brother-in-law, Olivia and Buster Williams; and a special aunt, Izona Mae Roberts.

Public viewing will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. today at Job's Mortuary.

Mr. Taylor will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. on Friday for viewing until the hour of service.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday at Salem Chapel & Heritage Center, 101 S. Salem Ave., Sumter, SC 29150 with Pastor Ellison McBride officiating.

The family will receive friends at the home of sister and brother-in-law, Dephine and Jerel Moses, 25 Pebblebrook Drive, Sumter, SC 29153.

Job's Mortuary Inc., 312 S. Main St., Sumter, is in charge of arrangements.
