Knitting Hearts Community Ministry, which meets at Bethesda Church of God, 2730 Broad St., announces:

* Saturday - Begin the New Year with Knitting Hearts from 9:45 a.m. to noon. International Bible teacher, author and speaker Dr. Peter Wyns will speak. You will enjoy a morning of worship, special music and a powerful message from Dr. Wyns. A love offering will be received. Knitting Hearts is a community-wide, multi-cultural women's ministry.

Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 325 Fulton St., announces:

* Sunday - The 37th pastoral anniversary of Pastor James and first lady Shirley M. Blassingame will be celebrated at 11 a.m. via Facebook/YouTube. Pastor Jamey O. Graham, of St. John Baptist Church, Columbia, as well as vice president at large of the Baptist E&M Convention of South Carolina, will speak. There will also be a drive-thru parade celebration from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Line up for the parade at 1 p.m. at the church.

Pinewood Baptist Church, 10 E. Fulton St., Pinewood, announces:

* Sunday, Jan. 31 - The church will host Christian vocalist, songwriter, speaker and author Dawn Smith Jordan (www.dawnsmithjordan.com) in concert at 6:30 p.m. Dawn committed her life to ministry as a junior in high school and has been in ministry full-time since 1987. In 1986, she was Miss South Carolina and second runner up to Miss America. She is well-known for sharing her story of triumph over tragedy following the murder of her sister, Shari, in 1985, for which a movie was made. A love offering will be received.
