- Saturday, Aug. 5 - Back-to-school bash from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Kings Highway Community Park, 2035 N. Kings Highway/S.C. 261, Dalzell. Event is free and open to the public. Representatives from the Sumter Police Department, Sumter County Sheriff's Office, Santee-Wateree Department of Mental Health, Sumter County Fire Department, Sumter County EMS and Helicopter Landing/Departure will be on hand to discuss school issues, bullying, mental health, etc. Free school supplies and free lunch for the children. Get registered to vote while attending as well.

- Saturday, Aug. 12 - Knitting Hearts for Christ will meet from 10 a.m. to noon. Revivalist Nicole Smyth will lead us in exploring prophetic words released to men and women throughout Scripture.
